MoC vehemently protests US protectionism measures

Mr Yao Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, China recently said that, there are totally 19 countries and regions, which have initiated 88 trade remedy investigations against Chinese products in the first three quarters of this year.

Among them, the United States has initiated 16 cases of trade remedy investigations on Chinese products and the total involved amount accounted for 57 percent of total global trade investigations against Chinese products.

He said in all, 17 anti-dumping and 9 countervailing investigations had been initiated involving a total of US $10.2 billion.

He vehemently said, “Under the context of financial crisis, currently countries should first strengthen cooperation and carefully introduce trade remedy measures in accordance with the requirements and firmly oppose cases with obvious trade protectionism.”

He pointed out,” The abuse of trade remedies under current context can only aggravate deterioration of trade environment, the combined anti-dumping and countervailing investigation by the United States against Chinese products is not justified. "
