Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar receives 'Scientist of the Year' Award

Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar, Associate Professor of Nonwoven Materials at The Institute of Environmental and Human Health at Texas Tech University was awarded the prestigious “Scientist of the Year” award for his invention “FIBERTECT” decontamination wipe by the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation (ARCS), Lubbock chapter.
Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation Inc is a national volunteer women's organization dedicated to helping the best and brightest U. S. graduate and undergraduate students by providing scholarships in natural sciences, medicine and engineering.
The recognition was made in an award gala on October 20, 2009. President Guy Bailey of Texas Tech University introduced Dr. Ramkumar for the recognition. Dr. Ramkumar made an after dinner award speech titled, “Fibertect Decontamination Wipe: Mind to Market”.
TIEHH's history begins in 1996 when Texas Tech University and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center proposed to form a joint venture to assess toxic chemical impacts on the physical, as well as the human, environment.
