Consumption and awareness regarding organic fabrics is slowly but surely increasing in western economies and the savvy Bangladeshi apparel exporters not to left behind are taking full advantage of the increase in demand for this value added product.

Textiles and apparels made from organic cotton have opened up new avenues and though it is more expensive than the traditional textiles, western customers who are environmentally friendly by nature are lapping up these goods.

Organic fabrics are made from pesticide and chemical free, raw cotton and fabrics, respectively. Apparel manufacturers are importing organic cotton fabrics from India, Pakistan and China as local textile mills are not able to meet the demand for organic yarns and fabrics.

The exporters are also able to command higher prices for goods made out of organic cotton, but the fabrics and clothing have to go through a strict certification process before it can be labeled as chemical and pesticide free.
