Thiru T. Kannan becomes Chairman of Textiles Committee

Thiru Dayanidhi Maran, Minister of Textiles has reconstituted the Textiles Committee. Thiru T. Kannan, Managing Director, Thiagaraja Mills, Madurai has been named as the Chairman of the Textiles Committee.
The other members include Textile Commissioner; Joint Secretary and Director (Internal Finance) of the Ministry of Textiles; Chairman CITI; Chairman, Indian Powerloom Federation; Chairman, Southern India Mills Association; Chairman, Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council; Chairman, Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council; President, Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association; Secretary General, CII; Chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council; Chairman, Wool and Woolens Export Promotion Council; President, Federation of Indian Art Silk Weaving Industry; Chairman, NITMA; Director, Northern India Textile Research Association; Thiru Ajay Himatsingka, Chairman, Himatsingka Seide Ltd.; Chairman, Indian Woollen Mills Federation; Thiru Britto Joseph, Madurai; Thiru S.P.Oswal, CMD, Vardhaman Textile Limited; Thiru Senthil Kumar, BKS Textiles, Palladam; Thiru Vijay Aggarwal, Creative Garment Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai; Thiru M. Ramaswamy Warsaw International, Tirupur and Thiru Sanjay Jayvarthanavelu, LMW Ltd., Coimbatore.
The main function of the Committee is to ensure standard qualities of textiles both for internal marketing and export purposes and the manufacture and use of standard type of textile machinery. The Textile Committee also establishes Laboratories and Test Houses for the testing of textiles.
Thiru T. Kannan has since assumed the charge of Chairman, Textiles Committee. The Vice Chairman of the Committee is Thiru A. B. Joshi, Textile Commissioner.
