T&C exports record m-o-m growth in September

China's textile and apparel exports have shown a downward trend since last year due to the influence of financial crisis leading to a negative growth in exports in 2009, since several months. In the months of June and July though, positive growth was witnessed, when compared with their previous months. September exports too released positive signals.
According to the latest statistics released by China Customs, in September, China's total textile and apparel exports reached US $16.751 billion, an increase of $1.055 billion or 6.72 percent from the previous month, but a decrease of $1.249 billion or 6.94 percent year on year.
Among them, exports of textile yarn, fabrics and products registered $5.67 billion, down 4.63 percent year on year; exports of clothing and accessories fetched $11.081 billion, down 8.08 percent year on year. The negatives growth rates have fallen significantly in September, when compared with the previous months.
Industry experts believe that Europe, the United States and other regions and countries, begin their procurement for textiles, clothing and other goods beginning from September, in time for Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween, which seems to have boosted China's export growth of textile and apparel products to some extent.
According to statistics, from January to September of this year, China's total exports of textile and apparel amounted to $121.643 billion, down 11.17 percent year on year.
Experts point out that although the worst phase is over, the full recovery of textile industry will be a gradual process. In the larger environment of declining external demand, the textile industry can achieve sustainable development only by carrying out positive adjustment of industrial structure to face competition in overseas markets.
