Maharashtra to set up textile SEZ

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), which is the nodal agency for industrial development activities in the state of Maharashtra, has mulled setting up of sector specific Special Economic Zones (SEZ's).
One of these SEZ's will be set up for the textile sector and will be located near Sholapur, which is a textile hub in Maharashtra. A few of the SEZ's will be solely handled by MIDC and rest will be on a public-private partnership model.
The textile SEZ will be set up in Chincholi near Sholapur and which is also expected to provide a boost to the textile industries in and around the city of Sholapur. Sholapur is very well known for its winter twill blankets.
