Textile bodies discuss industry related issues with Minister

Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Mr. Rana M Farooq Saeed Khan has been made aware of the issues affecting the textile industry by a delegation of representatives of textile associations. It also discussed the gas load management plan for the approaching winter season, with the Minister.

Numbers of issues including yarn price hike and its export as well as the matters related to production cost, PSF and other textile sectors, and their effects on the industry were also discussed during the meeting. Problems related to growers, ginners and spinners were also considered at the meeting.

The textile association representatives said that the priority should be given to the textile industry as it has a major contribution in economic development of the country. Also they expressed concern over the matters related to availability of raw materials and their cost and urged to safeguard investors' interests.

Short and long-term planning should be done for the industry and cognizance of closed units of industry should also be taken, said the members of delegation. Besides, it underscored that there is a need to swell the production of cotton and BT cotton, and to resolve the issues related to spinning sector.

Energy crisis and their impact on the industry were also the topics of discussion during the meeting, wherein a comprehensive framework on load management has been done with mutual understanding of the participants of meeting.
