Kronos Worldwide, Inc. announced a price increase for all titanium dioxide grades sold outside of North America and Europe, including among other areas, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Effective December 1, 2009, prices for all Kronos titanium dioxide grades sold outside North America and Europe will be increased by a minimum of US$150 per metric ton.
This increase is in addition to the increases previously announced for implementation on October 1, 2009.
KRONOS Worldwide, Inc. and its predecessors have been producing titanium dioxide pigments (TiO2) since 1916. During this same time period, the Titanium Pigment Corporation of Niagara Falls, New York, and the Titan Co. AS, of Norway simultaneously began commercial production of this new white pigment that was principally used in paints. Today, TiO2 is the world's primary pigment for providing whiteness, brightness and opacity.
