Publicly-listed, Australia based, ETW Corporation is mulling taking full control over a UK based company which has the rights to an innovative fabric coating process that has global applications in the military and wider-ranging consumer sectors.

UK-based, Alexium Ltd, has the rights to the new process; Reactive Surface Technology (RST) that won 'World's Best Technology 2009' from amongst 90 finalists at the annual World's Best Technologies event in the US.

RST was originally developed for the US Department of Defense to treat standard textiles to provide protection for soldiers against chemical and biological threats, along with which it has waterproofing and flame retardant qualities.

RST has many applications and can be applied to textiles, glass and paint to greatly enhance its consumer market and can also be applied on furniture and footwear, due to its flame retardant, stain, oil and water repellant qualities.

Alexium owns the exclusive international rights to RST. It has an agreement with the Department of Defense for exclusive rights in exchange for a 2.5 percent gross sales royalty to be paid to the US government for the US markets.

For countries other than the US, Alexium has exclusive rights in exchange for a 5 percent gross sales royalty to be paid to the originally developer, Dr Jeff Owens.
