Workers vandalize apparel manufacturing unit

In a recent incident of vandalism of a garment factory, workers from the apparel manufacturing unit caused damage to the plant, the loss of which has been put at Tk 30 million.
The frivolous reason for destructing the factory premises was that workers were demanding an eight day holiday for the Eid festival against the six granted by the management.
The management suspects outside vested interests behind the looting and destruction. The workers destroyed lights, computers and sewing machines and also set on fire the fifth floor of the seven storey building.
The apparel manufacturing unit which is one of the few compliant units had also paid bonus as well as the November salary on the directives of the state government.
