The Cabinet Committee on Textiles, after duly reviewing the situation of raw cotton and cotton yarn supplies and also by considering current export trends, has recommended that the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) should monitor all exports of yarn through a registering export contracts.
The Chief Executive of TDAP, Syed Mohibullah Shah, with the objective to implementing the decision in its true spirit, held meetings with various stakeholders including representatives of APTMA as well as the value-added sector, to evolve a mutually acceptable system of registration.
TDAP also issued a notification for registration of yarn export, due to which from now onwards, exporters of yarn would need to file for the registration certificate with the TDAP, which will collect the information for a fair and transparent monitoring of the export trade in yarn.
A monitoring committee made up of two representatives from the value-added sector, one each from APTMA, Karachi Cotton Association, State Bank of Pakistan and Customs will supervise its implementation.
