Next we asked her about the size of the weaving preparatory machines in India, to which she said, “India itself is a big market for weaving preparatory machines. There are around 1.8 million looms operating in the country, the majority of which are obsolete slow speed, shuttle looms which are now being replaced by modern shuttle-less looms. The technology upgradation process has now accelerated due to various initiatives by Union Government & also by State Government in different states.

“Every year, an estimated inflow of about 3,500 – 4,000 shuttles-less looms (brand-new or second-hand) has created a huge demand for high technology preparatory machinery. Total estimated demand for modern high-tech sectional warping machines is about 200 per annum, of which high- tech spindle-driven direct warping machines account for about 50 and all these weaving preparatory machines are good enough to feed only high speed modern shuttles-less looms.”

When queried on the attributes that make Prashant Group stand out from amongst the many manufacturers of weaving preparatory machines, she said, “Prashant group enjoys the number-1 position in India, the reason for which is our commitment to provide world-class products at appropriate prices. There are very few companies in the world, who provide complete package of weaving preparatory and Prashant is one of those few. We have joined hands with some of the best European and American manufacturers like, Gamatex.srl and Freber Textile Solutions; Italy) and West Point, USA, in the field to provide cutting edge technology".

"Our product range includes";
-Sectional Warper
-Direct Warper
-Sample Warper
-Single end Sizing
-Staple fiber Sizing range
-Indigo dyeing and sizing
-Warping creels
-Warp beam handling system
-Warp beam storage system
-Inspection and finishing
-Narrow Fabric machinery

She added by saying, “Our primary objective is to enhance our customer's position in their market by providing cost effective solutions. We have world class infrastructure and well qualified/experienced people thru whom we deliver the products and services which surpass customer's expectations. Continuous improvement is the key to our success. To sum up, it is our “Passion for Excellence”, which distinguishes us from other players".

To another question, as to how they tackled the impact of the slowdown in the last one year, she said, “After 2007, textile market had slowed down globally. We believe that any company with sound fundamentals can sustain every challenge. Even during slowdown, our group turnover has increased by 10 percent, as the recession opened up new avenues for us in the global market. We added few more products in our portfolio and captured new markets and that's how we could gain some more market share and by focusing on niche markets, which we did not do during boom period and as they say, “Tough times do not last, tough people do”.

We concluded the interview by asking her as to how she foresees the market for their products in the next year, to which she replied by saying, “World over & especially in India, the recession now seems to be fading out and this year has stared showing positive signs of improvement and we anticipate healthy growth for our products in the coming year in domestic as well as export market.”
