Building on its success in 2009 and to support the growth planned for 2010, UBM India is restructuring its senior management team to provide a greater focus on business development.

This restructure will see M. Gandhi, currently Managing Director of UBM India take up the newly-created position of Vice Chairman, UBM India from 1 January 2010. His role will focus on new business development including mergers and acquisitions, and maintaining key relationships with government, industry associations, key suppliers and customers. He will also assist UBM Asia's business in South East Asia.

As part of the changes, M. Gandhi will travel regularly to India to support UBM India's business but will no longer be involved in the day-to-day running of the business. All exhibition operations will be managed by Sanjeev Khaira, Managing Director (Print, Online, Data), who will be promoted to Managing Director, UBM India. All staff previously reporting to M. Gandhi will report directly to Sanjeev as from 1 January 2010.

"These changes will support the acceleration of UBM India's business development and ensure that we have the senior management necessary for our ambitious organic growth plans across all areas of our business," said Jimé Essink, President and CEO of UBM Asia. "UBM would like to recognise the huge contribution that M. Gandhi has made in developing UBM Asia's Indian operations into the country's number one B2B exhibition organiser in the private market. Today, UBM India organises 14 major exhibitions in India, as well as operating a number of B2B publications and websites. All of these have benefited directly from the strong commitment of M. Gandhi. These changes will allow him to continue to play a major part in the development of the business, whilst also allowing him to spend more time with his family and on other personal interests."

UBM India will continue to report to Michael Duck, Senior Vice President of UBM Asia. UBM India started its operations in Mumbai in May 2006. It subsequently opened offices in Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai. With 150 professional staff, UBM India organises 14 market-leading exhibitions including CPhI India, IFSEC India, Interop Mumbai for the pharmaceutical, security and IT industries respectively, and Gem & Jewellery India International Exhibition. UBM India publishes four leading publications, namely CRN (Channel Reseller News), Network Computing, Property World and The Energy Business. It also operates market focused websites and organises leading conferences for nuclear power, biosimilars, pharmaceuticals, telecoms and security markets.
