Govt accentuates 'Buy Israeli textile goods' policy

Jan '10
Purchasing 'blue and white Israeli products will boost the industry and economy of the country, said the Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Mr. Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, who ordered other ministers as well as regional and municipal leaders to buy more domestic products instead of going for foreign items.

He praised Public Security Minister Mr. Yitzchak Aharonovitch (Yisrael Beiteinu) for extending tender period of Prison Services contract for uniforms, by 18 days, which were to be issued to an overseas company.

The Minister asked the Prisons Services to review its terms and conditions of the tender contract and think over the prospects of purchasing fabrics and clothing from the domestic textile industry, which has been impacted negatively by competition from companies in China and other Asian countries.

Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry deals with complaints from manufacturers regarding discrimination and unreasonable conditions in tenders, issued by the government agencies.
