Business plan of textile sector needs special attention – Expert

The Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission said that yarn constitutes one of the most important components of the textile sector in Pakistan and a business plan, by giving it special attention needs to be constituted, to exploit the strengths of the sector.
Mr Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali said this while chairing the meeting of the steering committee of the National Trade Corridor Strategy Study (NTCSS), which has been set up to improve procedures, services and infrastructure to enhance trade and reduce the cost of doing business.
The Committee analysed the report of the consultants to identify the problems and key options available to textile and apparel industry. The report will be helpful to frame the plan of the government in developing a strategy.
While analysing the textile and apparel sector, the committee arrived at a consensus that, power and energy crises,transport, infrastructure, and access to international market are the main hurdles for domestic investors.
