INDIGO: Influence of decoration

Jan '10
The next edition of Indigo, from 9 to 12 February, is expected to confirm the place of creativity as an essential element in fashion.

When the market encounters a difficult period, innovation and creativity are essential. Thanks to its exhibitors, including studios and independent designers for whom passion is both a craft and a passion - Indigo is a vector for creativity in all its forms. Exacerbated competition and the fractioning of collections are driving the fashion sector to seek out ever more diversified and original sources of inspiration. Indigo's creative richness constitutes a matchless pole of attraction, a place to soak up images, motifs and forms that stimulate the imagination and creative process.

Some 149 studios coming from 11 countries are registered for the show as of 30 December 2009, including 14 newcomers, 3 Americans, 4 British, 1 South Korean, 6 French. They are presenting offers that are, as always, resolutely multi-sectorial and creative.

One of the highlights of Indigo is its forward-looking fashion information, specifically dedicated to decoration and unique in its kind. Resulting from the Première Vision/Indigo focalisation meeting, the "Influences" information is sent to exhibitors before the show and conveyed in the fashion area during the show itself.

Four key words define the "Spring Summer II Influences"
- Positive. The key word of this spring summer, which determinedly showcases a lighter spirit a desire to be borne off by fantasy and joie de vivre.

- Nature. Lying low for the past few seasons, nature once again becomes a decisive influence. Unexpected interpretations abound, where ultra-realism confronts the fictional and artificial.

- Colour. Colour is essential as a key value!

- Light diffuses its energy, revealing itself in intense transparencies and pigmenting darks.

In February, the fashion area will be divided in two:
- One area will be entrusted to internationally renowned designer Matali Crasset, who is fashioning a marriage of creativity and tools. Visitors will be invited to involve themselves personally in the animation of the area, demonstrating their own creativity by playing with filters in original shapes projecting images through a reflection system.

- Another area combining relaxation and conviviality will be exclusively set aside for selected spring-summer 2011 designs contributed by exhibitors. The fashion team proposed five themes as starting points for these artworks: "spring-like vitality," "natural/artificial", happy figurative" "between two seas," "wild and marvellous," and "in pieces."

Now in their second edition, the Pluriel Expert Trails will run through the 6 Première Vision Pluriel shows, dedicated to two particularly sensitive themes: "Eco-colour," for products that use non-polluting and vegetal dyes and "Extreme Sports." These two themes are particularlywell suited to showcasing the complementary nature of exhibitors from all the different shows to the buyers from the textile/fashion chain.
