There is an air of optimism in the Nigerian textile sector after having witnessed years of despondency. The industry is expected to spring back by the end of the year as companies start accessing the N100 billion revival fund.
Revealing details, Kaduna Governor, Namadi Sambo said that some of the collapsed textile factories in Kaduna had already started accessing the revival fund and had received proceeds of the fund and were preparing to restart production.
He however appealed to the government to block illegal imports and smuggling of fabrics and clothing by issuing strict instructions to the border customs authorities in order that these revived textile companies are able to find a footing.
