Affected by the global financial crisis, global trend of trade protectionism is rising. Trade remedy investigations suffered by China continued to increase in 2009. China suffers the most anti-dumping cases in the world and has remained on the top every year among the countries that have suffered anti-dumping cases since 1995.
The latest data of Chinese Ministry of Commerce shows that from January to August of 2009, 17 countries (regions) in total initiated 79 trade remedy investigations against China, involving total amount of about US $10.035 billion, up 16.2 percent and 121.2 percent, respectively, year on year, of which, 50 cases were anti-dumping investigations.
The data also reveals that the European Union was ranked 14 with cases against it, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States suffered 6 cases each to stand third and Indonesia, South Korea and Malaysia suffered 5 cases each.
