'Weavers Art' attracts artists to rug designing

A hand-woven carpet supplier company in Toronto, 'Weavers Art' has joined hands with designer Johane Lefrançois-Deignan to draw Canadian artists towards rugs designing, which is an ancient craft.
More than 200 artists, including, graphic and interior designers as well as architects, were attracted to the competition of rug designing held in the month of September. The 10 winning crafts of the competition had been revealed at the Interior Design Show conducted in Toronto from January 22 to 24.
To generate interest in rugs designing in Canada, where this art is less known and new, and to take advantage of previously unknown Canadian talent were the key objectives of the competition.
The website of Interior Design Show promoted the rug exhibition as a 'new exciting platform for Canadian designers and artists'. 'Weavers Art' aims at changing Canadians' perspective for rugs 'as a part of furniture' into 'as a piece of fine art' suitable for both the floor or as a wall hanging.
