Seminar to revitalize textile & clothing industry

In order to design a strategy and project implementation plan to perk up the textile and clothing industry of Tajikistan, a two-day seminar on 'Strategic Value Chain Diagnosis and Action-Planning' has been organized by the International Trade Center (ITC).

The seminar that is to be organized on January 28 and 29 will be financially assisted by the Switzerland State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Industry leaders, experienced manufacturers, designers, government agencies, academia and heads of support services engaged in the sector will mark their presence in the seminar.

The centre will lend a hand to the textile & clothing manufacturers of Tajikistan to execute their market ideas for revival of the industry.

ITC will also present certain changes required to take advantage of the existing opportunities for specific products and markets, as well as highlights of the results of enterprise investigations undertaken in November 2009 by the quality and productivity consultants.

The seminar will facilitate businesses to structure and plan required changes to acquire competitive stand in new markets, stated an ITC official. At the end of the workshop, dates for working group meetings, will be decided by the participants, to improve the workshop outputs.

To assist the SMEs' exports in Tajikistan, to attain a sustainable growth and diversification, by increasing the competitiveness of textile and clothing industry and improving the quality management infrastructure of the country is the key objective of this seminar.
