Springfield LLC announced that a mutual agreement has been reached between DuPont and Springfield LLC giving Springfield LLC the right to manufacture and distribute Protera fabric to garment manufacturers in the United States and the Caribbean. This agreement allows for substantial development of new fabrics to supplement the existing Protera product line.

Protera, an inherently flame-resistant fabric, has been engineered to protect industrial workers against electric arc hazards and meet NFPA Category 2 requirements. It offers a very high level of comfort and durability and, unlike chemically treated fabrics, protection afforded by Protera is built-in so its thermal protection properties cannot be washed or worn away. Garments manufactured with Protera will show better lifecycle value then FR cotton/nylon garments of similar weight.

"Springfield LLC will continue to improve upon the existing Protera line with innovations to support the needs of garment manufacturers. Springfield LLC FR textile business has had a long relationship with DuPont and with Protera products and services," said Ed Shogan, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield LLC. "This transition will be seamless and add to the success of an already successful brand." DuPont will continue to support Protera at the mill and end user levels through technical and sales assistance.
