Aeropostale statement on Cadmium

Aéropostale, Inc. a mall-based specialty retailer of casual and active apparel for young women and men, today issued the following statement in response to inquiries it has received regarding cadmium in one of its Aéropostale men's products:
Aéropostale's top priority is our customers and the quality of our merchandise. After we were made aware of cadmium found in one style of Aéropostale men's necklace by the Center for Environmental Health in California, we notified all of our stores, not just those in California, and pulled the product immediately.
Customers can return the necklace to any Aéropostale store and we will safely dispose of it. Further, we have notified our vendors that, effective immediately; all jewelry must also be tested for cadmium, in addition to our existing testing protocols, at an independent lab. We will not accept any product that contains cadmium.
