Cotton output plunges in Henan province

According to the Statistical Bureau of Henan Province, the province planted cotton on 537,330 hectares of cotton area in 2009, down 11.3 percent year on year.

However, cotton production plunged alarmingly by 20.5 percent year on year. But at the same time the textile industry of the province continued to maintain a rapid growth.

Fixed asset investment amounted to 31.52 billion Yuan in 2009, an increase of 22.3 percent year on year.

Annual yarn output registered 3.404 million tons, an increase of 19.3 percent and fabric production fetched 3.17 billion meters, up 12.6 percent year on year.
