DHL logistics partner of Colombo Fashion Week

DHL, the world's prime logistic company, has been hired as the official Fashion Logistics Partner of the Colombo Fashion Week which is to begin from 5 February to 7 February, 2010.
Through this collaboration, DHL intends to promote and encourage trade amid the provincial designers and retailers and thereby focus on strengthening Sri Lankan fashion industry.
The international fashion and textile industry is a vital segment for DHL. DHL reckons the Fashion and Apparel Logistics industry to have a turnover of US $3.9 billion per annum in South Asia. In this prospering industry, the share of just India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka is believed to over US $2.4 billion.
DHL's proficiency envelopes the entire logistical value chain of the fashion industry, ranging from securing materials to samples and production quality controls all the way through direct deliveries to the boutiques of international fashion houses.
Ashwani Nath, Country Manager, DHL Global Forwarding Lanka, stated that Sri Lanka is amongst the countries, dominating the global apparel and textile industry, and by reason of its geographical location it is a perfect access linking Asia and Europe.
He also added that, they are thrilled to be associated with the Colombo Fashion Week as it presented an ideal chance in their favour to leverage on their widespread global presence in over 220 nations and provinces to make sure that international designer's creations reach the annual fashion event safe and sound, well in time.
Apart from Colombo Fashion Week, DHL is also an associate for Fashion Week events in other cities like Berlin, Istanbul, London, Miami, Milan, Mexico City, Moscow, Mumbai, New York, Sydney and Toronto.
