Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran said, he would escalate Andhra Pradesh's demand for allocation of Rs. 1.4 billion for establishment of textile clusters in the state to the Finance Minister.
After a meeting with delegation of ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Maran while talking to the press remarked that his job is just to recommend and then it is the Finance Minister who has to take the final decision.
The State intends to establish two textile clusters, one at Srikakulum and other at Dharamavaram district. Establishment of these clusters is expected to extend common infrastructure to weavers and small textiles units.
N Raghuveera Reddy, Minister of Agriculture, Andhra Pradesh said that, they have urged Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran for establishment of two mega textiles clusters in Srikakulum and Dharamavaram districts and that, the minister has ensured them that, both the cluster projects will most probably be sanctioned in 2010-11.
