Samantha Hayes to host iD DFW Emerging Designer Awards

Popular TV3 personality, and M2 Woman of the Year, Samantha Hayes, has been confirmed as the host for the Emerging Designer Awards on Thursday 11 March. Crowd favourites and dynamic duo Carol Hirschfeld and John Campbell will return to host the iD Fashion show on Saturday, 13 March. Carol will host the iD Fashion Show on Friday 12 March in true style, following her outstanding performance as host at the first iD Emerging Designer Awards show in 2005.

The 2010 iD Dunedin Fashion Week Emerging Designer Awards show has a very limited number of tickets available, while tickets are still available for the two iD Fashion shows held on 12 and 13 March 2010.

Key points
· Samantha Hayes is TV3's former Nightline presenter and reporter, and now joins 3 News as the environmental reporter.With a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Media Studies from Wellington's Victoria University, as well as a Certificate in Media Communication from Aoraki Polytechnic in Dunedin, Samantha was born to be a journalist.

· Carol Hirschfeld has worked as a producer, presenter, reporter and director in television for the past 25 years. Last August,she moved to Maori Television as Head of Programming. Carol has extensive experience as an MC and particularly enjoys her involvement with the iD Dunedin Fashion team.

· John Campbell first joined TV3 in 1991 and in 2005 John moved from anchoring 3 News to work on his new nightly current affairs show Campbell Live with Carol Hirschfeld as Executive Producer and alternate presenter. He has been a finalist in the Best Presenter category of the New Zealand Film and Television Awards for each of the past four years (winning it twice), and won the Best Presenter prize at the Qantas Media Awards for two consecutive years.

· The judges for the 2010 iD Dunedin Fashion Week Emerging Designer Awards are: Zandra Rhodes, international fashion designer; Stefano Sopelza, Mittelmoda Fashion Award Project Supervisor, Italy; Katie Newton, fashion and beauty editor of the Sunday Star Times, Sunday Magazine; and, Isaac Hindin-Miller, fashion blogger. Judges for the jewellery section of the Awards are: David McLeod, Dunedin sculptor and jeweller; and, Andrew Logan, international sculptor and jewellery designer.

· Now in its sixth year, the Emerging Designer Awards attracts designers from the world's most prestigious design schools, exposing the country to unprecedented international fashion design talent.

· 29 finalists will compete to win prizes including:
- $5,000 Life Pharmacy first prize;
- $3,000 Dunedin City Council second prize;
- $1,000 Mild Red third prize;
- $1,000 Golden Centre jewellery award
- $2,500 Otago Institute of Design Sustainability Award;
- Mittelmoda prize, allowing the winner direct entry to show at Mittelmoda in Italy;
- Pacific Blue Emerging Designer Travel Prize;
- A three-month residency with the Dunedin Fashion Incubator,Dfi;
- The Pulp Magazine “Pulp Fashion Culture Award”, securing the winner editorial coverage with their collection and a one year subscription.

· Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Zandra Rhodes and guest judge Andrew Logan are sponsored by Anderson Lloyd, with assistance from the British Council.
