In a recently released report the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has forecast that world production of cotton is expected to grow by 10.5 percent to 113.5 million bales and that Chinese cotton output would rise by 9 percent to 35 million bales in the next cotton season (2010-11).
The report also projects world cotton consumption to reach 118.5 million bales, up 2.6 percent in the same period. It forecasts cotton crop in India at 25 million bales, up 6 percent from 2009-10; 6.4 million bales in Brazil, up 15 percent; 10 million bales in Pakistan, up 2 percent and 2 million bales in Australia, up 2 percent.
