According to the Nepal Carpet Exporter's Association (NCEA), Thomas Roetter, Managing Director of KREIGER GmbH was presented with the Export Excellence Award 2009 by Prime Minister of Nepal, Madhav Kumar.
KREIGER GmbH is the second largest importer of Nepal's carpets in Germany and in 2009, the company imported 27,123 sq meters of carpets from Nepal.
Roetter, while speaking at the award ceremony said that Nepal's carpets are unbeatably the best around the globe. He also expressed hope that in coming times if the government manages to resolve the issues that have spurred up on account of continued industrial and labour strife, then they may not only continue but even amplify imports of Nepali carpets.
At the function, while conveying his pleasure towards the custom of presenting award to the biggest importer, Fred Keller, Managing Director of Theoko Collection stated that his company is engaged in exports of Nepali carpets now for over 22 years.
The government of Nepal was inclined on reinstating exports of carpet at a position where it earlier stood, said Prime Minister of Nepal and added that for the purpose an elevated task force has been constituted for analyzing the situation and the suggestions laid down by it will be made effective during current year.
He while congratulating Roetter, guaranteed that Nepal's carpet industry would depict improved trade performance in years to come and for the purpose the government is prepared to initialize pertinent steps.
Prior to this, Kabindra Nath Thakur, President of NCEA and Surendra Dhakal, Executive Advisor consulted the council and assigned its report on latest International Carpet Fair 2010, which was organized at Hanover in Germany.
