Leaders of Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturer's (ACIMIT), who were in Bangladesh to participate in a three-day programme, divulged that the Italian textile machinery companies will assist Bangladeshi companies in further upgrading their technology to enable them to generate world-class products.
Amongst those who addressed the press were President of ACIMIT Dr Salmoiraghi, Director Federico Pellegata and Trade Commissioner Erica Di Giovancarlo.
According to the leaders, Bangladesh is amongst the countries which have witnessed a steady rise in the demand for textile machinery, regardless of the difficulties that rose on account of the global economic crisis.
Italian Trade Commission and ACIMIT are planning to collaborate with an institute or university to establish a training centre in Bangladesh for imparting training on various textile machines which are being used in the textile machinery market.
In a paper presented by Dr Salmoiraghi, he noted that there are around 300 companies in Italy involved in production of textile machinery and accessories, employing over 13,900 employees.
Italy along with Germany, Japan and Switzerland, are leading textile machinery suppliers at international level, he added.
Dr Salmoiraghi said that during initial nine months of 2009, Italian textile machinery totalling to 18 million euros was sold to Bangladesh and it turned out to be the Asia's fourth largest purchaser of Italian textile machinery, next to China, India and Turkmenistan.
The delegation intends to further bolster institutional relations and generate favourable environment while enhancing the bonds between Italian and Bangladeshi companies.
