Mr MS Hidayat, Trade Minister
The Trade Minister of Indonesia, Mr MS Hidayat has promised to provide support to the creative industry in Bali which compromises of handicrafts, fashion and garments.

He said the creative industry of Bali has played an important role in providing support to both, the provincial and national economy and that the sector has a whole, contributed by earning Rp 115 trillion from exports in 2009.

Speaking at a meeting, he gave the assurance that the government will map the industry's potentials in order to ensure better penetration in both, domestic and international markets.

He also observed that the banking sector was not supporting this sector in accessing capital and that he would try to change the mindset of seeking collaterals, which the sector did not have.

There are around 127,000 small-scale enterprises, which generate employment for more than 300,000 people in the creative sector, again of which nearly 70 percent of these are mainly involved in the handicraft and fashion trade.
