The Hanoi Craft Week 2010, named as “A thousand years of quintessence” has been organized at the Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi. Around 500 craft villages are participating in the event.

Export promotion, up-gradation and betterment of products prepared in the craft villages in Hanoi, are the main focuses of the event, and it is believed that the traditional cultures of these villages prevalent for more than 1,000 momentous years will be kindled through this event.

Also other activities have been organized like a contest for craftsmen for designing a signature souvenir for the millennium anniversary, workshops on the potential and development of Hanoi handicraft villages and also events like exhibitions showcasing the craft items.

Moreover, the visitors are even afforded an opportunity to not only view the procedure through which these craft items are developed, but also actively participate in production activities. They will get a chance to travel around five outstanding craft villages, when they are visiting other tourist spots in the environs of Hanoi.
