ITPO to set up India Pavilion at World Expo in Shanghai

We wish to inform that India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), is setting up “India Pavilion” at World Expo 2010, Shanghai, China on behalf of Government of India.
World Expo 2010 is scheduled to be held in Shanghai (China) from 1st May to 31 October 2010. This six months long Expo will be held in EXPO ZONE - A, SHANGHAI, CHINA.
The theme of the World Expo 2010 is “Better City, Better Life”. Expo 2010 is a unique World event featuring cultural diversity, interdisciplinary communications and meaningful interactions between people: It will showcase the achievements of mankind and generate new directions and aspirations for the future.
About than 177 Countries and 44 international organization have confirmed their participation in the Shanghai Expo 2010. About 70 million Visitors are expected to visit the Expo over a period of six months.
India is also participating in this Expo in a big way. ITPO will organize “India Pavilion” in the allotted are a of 4000 sqm. and the Construction of stands is underway. This six months long Expo will provide an opportunity to the Indian Companies to Show case their products to international Buyers.
In the area earmarked for commercial activities, specialized products from different regions will be available on sale in a Shopping Arcade with 14 shops. As per Expo guidelines, the shops will sell specialized goods of the country. ITPO proposed to allot a few shops to each interested Trade Association/Export Promotion Council.
Keeping in view the importance of this World Expo, the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India, desired that Export Promotion Councils, should endeavor to organize participation of Indian exporters of various Products & Services to show-casethe sectoral strengths of our country in this Mega International Event which is held once in 5 years.
Accordingly, the Council considered that it will be a good opportunity for Indian exporters of Finished Leather to participate in this World Expo, in Shanghai, since Finished Leather is the major item of import by China from our Country. It may be mentioned here that India's export of Finished Leather to China was US.$. 45.79 million, out of the total export of leather & leather products amounting to US.$.49.96 million.
The details of organizing the participation of member-exporters of the Council are as under:
There will one stand for Council members. The stand size is 26 sq.mtrs – Dimension (7.2 X 3.5) Only Hard wall with door will be provided by ITPO. Fixtures / Furniture and display accessories will be arranged separately.
Three companies will be allotted space in one stand for a minimum period of one week to display their products. But there will be common “Fascia” outside the stand.
Like–wise 4 batches of 3 companies each will be allotted space for one week duration each. Accordingly, a total of 12 companies will be allotted space for 4 weeks duration.
