With a view of taking support in areas such as design development, textile and yarn improvisation for Khadi fabric, the state Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has joined hands with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Rae Bareli, under the Product Development and Design Intervention Program of KVIC.
A meeting regarding this has been conducted among the representatives of KVIC and experts from NIFT in Lucknow. This collaboration will proved to be beneficial for around 104 KVIC institutions in the year 2010-11.
As per the state KVIC Director, Mr. R S Pandey, earlier the association took designing assistance from NIFT, Delhi. But, as the institute is engaged with many other projects, all the Khadi units couldn't get expert training through it. So, KVIC has joined hands with newly opened NIFT in Rae Bareli, which can offer technical guidance to all KVIC units across the state of Uttar Pradesh.
On the other hand, along with the faculty members, students from NIFT, Rae Bareli will also pay visit to various khadi manufacturing units. Training programs in design and experiments with fabrics will also be initiated.
