Cotton bale inventories low with ginners

During 2009-10 cotton season, around 12.627372 million cotton bales had been sold by over 1200 members of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) from the total arrival of 12.693268 million cotton bales till May 1. Currently, only 0.65781 million bales of cotton are left unsold.

According to the association, ginners of the country sold around 1.07426 million bales to exporters and 8.400079 million bales to the textile mills, which showed that, this year cotton production was about 1.344239 millions bales more than the previous year.

Around 4.234785 million bales have been produced in the Sindh province showing 41.38 percent increase against last year, while Punjab produced 8.458483 million bales registering a slight increase of 1.26 percent. Lint prices have gone up to Rs 6,700 per maund (wherein one maund is equal to 37.32 kg) in the ready market.
