The Pakistani textile sector is abuzz with news that the Cabinet Committee on Textiles will impose a regulatory duty on exports of yarn, to ensure easy availability of yarn to the value-added textile sector as well as cool down prices.

Fibre2fashion spoke to a high-ranking official of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), who refuted the news by saying, “They were just rumours floating in government circles and the textile industry”.

He said, “The Government of Pakistan has not decided anything as yet. Earlier it was said that spinners went on strike then in next stage, rumours were spreading around that value-added exporters had gone on strike”.

He further added by saying that, “Matters are still under negotiation and today there is a meeting on to sort out this issue."
