Record visitors at 35th International Fur Fair of Kastoria

May '10
The 35th International Fur Fair of Kastoria, which took place from May 6th to 9th at the Exhibition & Auction Center, was not only the largest in history with regard to its participations, but also the largest one in terms of space, since on one side of the Exhibition Building new premises were built, whose cost was taken over by the Kastorian Fur Association.

This year 135 exhibitors have applied for and participated in, most of whom were from Greece and Italy. Other participants came from Russia, America, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Turkey and the Czech Republic. In the previous year they were 125. As far as the space is concerned, the area this year has been 7.750 square meters, compared to 6.900 last year.

The new element is that, as the President of the Kastorian Fur Association Mr. Iraklis Kallisthenis stated in last year's press conference, this year in the 35th International Fair there is a new building, whose construction expenses were born by the Association. In particular, 3.200 square meters of indoor space were built on a plot which was granted by the Chamber of Kastoria to the Kastorian Fur Association (last year there were 1.800 square meters with a special tent).

The 35th International Fur Fair of Kastoria was characterized as an impressive event by the Ambassador of China in Greece Luo Linquan, who reflected his impressions on the impressions book of the Fair. It is the first time that a Chinese Ambassador has ever visited the International Fur Fair of Kastoria throughout the 35 years that this institution has existed. In a statement of his, he highlighted that: “As a city, Kastoria is beautiful; it is the first time I have visited both the city and your Fair; as for the International Fair, which I had the opportunity to see during my brief visit, it is one of highly large scale, fur products are available in a wide variety and of remarkable quality and designs. I wish good luck to all exhibitors, to every businessman in the sector and to its organizers”.

The 35th International Fur Fair of Kastoria was also visited by the President of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Philip Petsalnikos and agents of the local authorities of Kastoria and Western Macedonia in general.

The analytical results of the competition among the exhibitors are as follows:
