As per Cumbrian wool ambassador, this season's rates will most likely be the best in several years.

According to Anthea Jones, member of the the Original Cumbrian Wool Co-operative, this is one of the best news for farmers and the wool industry per say.

To aid sheep producers further increase their income from wool, the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB), has developed new networks of intermediate wool processing depots, two of which are situated in the north-west areas of Cumbria.

The future rise in prices is associated to the larger interest of the fashion world from which the Cumbrian farmers could achieve benefits.

The increasing price of wool is definitely good news for wool manufacturers, as when the prices were low, it was only the Wool Marketing Board that had supported the manufacturers, averred a wool manufacturer.

Four Broughton-in-Furness farming families are part of the Co-operative, who combine wool shaved from sheep before on-looking the wool's processing and transformation into saleable goods.

Explaining further, a wool manufacturer said that, in 1999 a group of women who were keen on wool got together and formed Original Cumbrian Wool. Later, domestic farmers would provide them with wool and this group of women will process and transform it into wool goods such as rugs, scarves and upholstery.

Cumbria is considered to be one the most beautiful counties of the United Kingdom as its home to the Lake District National Park, the largest national park in Britain and glaciated mountains.

While sheep farming was once the key industry of this region, but it declined dramatically during February – September 2001 as the farms were affected by the foot and mouth disease.
