Iran, in the last week, was observing cultural heritage week and to commemorate the event, it kicked off a handloom exhibition in the southern prehistoric town of Shiraz.
Hamid Baqae, head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) and many other officials from Fars Province marked their presence at the inaugural function of the six-day long exhibition.
Handicrafts displayed during the exhibition included a heap of decorative and arty handmade items such as wooden floorboards, wooden and crystal items with designs embossed on them, Persian minuscule, mirror work, leather and patch works, stone carvings and traditionally woven hand-made fabrics and sculptures. The exhibition came to an end on May 24, 2010.
