Going by the early trends in sowing, farmers seem to be opting for planting more of cotton and pulses than oilseeds.
As per the Agriculture Ministry's latest kharif sowing reports, a 6 percent rise has been recorded over last year's area of 10.601 hectare (lh), as this year, farmers have already sown 11.233 lh for cotton crop.
More so, with demand for cotton exports increasing, the price outcome also seems to be in favour of farmers sowing the cotton crop.
