Sportswear producers in India are trying to cash in on the craze generated by the football World Cup currently going on in South Africa. Companies like Nike, Reebok and Adidas are targeting teenagers with various kinds of merchandise.

The main craze is for merchandise like team jerseys, waistbands and socks and store counters of these companies are ringing with cash. These companies expect to double or even treble sales in comparison to what they garnered during the previous World Cup in 2006.

These are the type of events which these sports goods brands look forward to, as by creating a buzz, they tempt the teenagers to try out the merchandise like jerseys and waistbands and in the process are able to garner a good amount of sales within a short period of time.
