Primary Wool & Grower Holdings discard joint venture talks

Negotiations have been on since last year about establishing single co-operative, among Primary Wool and Wool Grower Holdings.
Primary Wool supplies New Zealand strong wool to the US carpet producers under the new Just Shorn brand, in association with Elders New Zealand.
On the other hand, Grower Holdings is in a joint venture with PGG Wrightson by Wool Partners International, wherein, PGG, with its Laneve brand, also targets global carpet market.
Many farmers were disappointed with competing wool co-operatives in a divided industry, said Chairman of Primary Wool, Bay de Latour of Hawke's Bay. But, the two farmer co-operatives are not agreeing to join forces as yet, he informed.
Primary Wool will continue to reposition wool in the market, in a bid to boost farmers' earnings, added Bay de Latour.
