Vietnam and Denmark in JV for outdoor sports garments

Post their triumphant implementation of a pilot project, Spectre A/S from Denmark and Vietnam-based, Minh Tri Limited Company have decided to establish an outdoor sports apparel manufacturing unit in the Thai Binh province through a joint venture (JV).

Thai Binh province is known for being one of the key apparel areas of Vietnam, comprising of a large youth labour force. Spectre and Minh Tri have built their new JV named, Spectre Vietnam, in this province for the aforesaid reasons.

The new industrial unit is already equipped with two new lines for sewing and an automatic cutter, thereby, rendering it ready for delivering, already taken up volume orders from Sweden, German, Switzerland, Taiwan, Italy, USA and UK-based customers.

With specializing in European outdoor sports apparels including fleece jackets, soft-shell jackets, technical innerwear and t-shirts, Spectre A/S was set up in 1947. With a capacity of 500 labourers in Denmark and Latvia, Spectre is now widening its operations in to Vietnam with Minh Tri.

Minh Tri on the other hand was set up in 1995 with merely 50 employees and diversified its operations to complete their consumer demands by establishing a second factory in 2001 with 800 labourers and their third factory was established in 2005 with 2,400 workforces.

With an investment of DKK 4 million that will be achieved from B2B programs, partners are likely to generate 200 more new jobs with 75 percent placements offered to women, by 2013 for Thai Binh province. Both partners will also establish their JV factory for their future commercial purposes.
