Skilled graduates can empower handicraft sector - Mosbah

Ridha Ben Mosbah, Minister of Trade and Handicrafts, presided over the 16th meeting of the National Handicrafts Council that was recently held in Tunisia. Amongst those who attended the meet were, Secretary of the State for External Trade, Ministerial representatives, businessmen as also other professionals from the concerned fields.
The Minister during the meet emphasized that, as the graduates with higher education are now joining in a variety of handicraft activities, this pinpoints at the emergence of a whole new flock of young craftsmen, competent enough to empower the sector with value additions.
Two papers, one on the implementation of presidential measures that addresses all sectors especially those of tapestry and jewellery, while the other on the national handicraft development plan for the implementation of the handicraft strategy by 2016, were presented at the event.
The main points of discussion at the meet remained to be, promotion of handicraft items in various commercial arenas, shielding of the national products from simulation and against competition advanced by the imported goods as also against anarchistic expansion of the quality systems and swapping of the knack.
