User meet of Handloom Mark registered users

Shri S Ulaganathan, through a power point presentation explained the details of the scheme since its inceptions, the periodic changes made in the scheme along the forthcoming simplifications in the scheme. He elaborately presented the details & mode of the publicity given to the Handloom mark scheme. Finally the changes proposed in the labels, their segmentation along with the cost reduction aspect was made public to the august gathering.

During the last session the participants were invited to interact. Two prominent speakers were Mr Y Venkanna Netha, Director Chamber for Handloom Industry & Commerce, Hyderabad and Mr Virupaksham, Ex-Handloom Board member, who aired their concerns on the following:-

a.Low level of consumer awareness and consumer demand for Handloom Marked products.
b.Caution of misuse of labels by Retailers of power loom and handloom products.
c.Influx of 800 crores worth power looms goods which are reserved for handlooms from neighboring states. Handloom mark will be able to certainly be handy in identifying this influx.
d.Confidence among the consumer needs to be created with respect to the originality of Handlooms goods containing the Handloom mark.
e.There is now a need to have a separate handloom policy with a separate Directorate for Handlooms in AP.
f.Labels supply is slow/delayed some times.
