Demand for prompt available cotton did not weaken in the past week. However, it was almost impossible for the merchants to offer anything for the short term. Therefore the business in the nearby range concentrated on cotton which could be delivered after the works holidays and on the earliest available shipments from the new crop. A similar situation was reported for Upland as well as for fine- /extra fine varieties.

In the medium staple range contracts were reported in Central Asian sorts for prompt and for dates in the 4th quarter 2010 and in the 1st quarter 2011; Greek and Spanish cotton for the 4th quarter 2010; West African types for end of the 3rd quarter, for the 4th quarter 2010, and for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2011, as well as Brazil cotton for the 4th quarter 2010 and for the 1st quarter 2011.

In thefine- /extra fine range were traded: Sudan Barakat for the 4th quarter 2010 through 2nd quarter 2011; Israel Pima for the end of the 3rd quarter 2010, and USA Pima for the 1st quarter 2011.
