At a recent meeting held between the spinning and value-added sector, with the Federal Minister of Textiles, the Minister has requested both the parties to come out with a viable strategy to make yarn available at affordable rates.

This was revealed to fibre2fashion by a reliable source from the spinning sector. It may be recalled that the govt has imposed a regulatory duty of 15 percent on exports of yarn from the country, the deadline of which ends on July 27.

There are strong signals emanating from the government that in all likelihood that it may further extend the deadline till September 2010, against which the spinning sector is up in arms and are strongly voicing opinions against the move.
