'Green Week', 2010 campaign was organized by Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), Fursatganj, Rae Bareli at its campus from 9th July 2010, in which the staff and students participated in environmental education programs and activities.

“The 'Green Week' campaign organized by FDDI is about recycling, reusing and reducing waste and other ways to advocate for the environment and save our planet 'Earth' from global warming.” Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI.

The staff and students of FDDI did it all to show their commitment to 'Environment Protection' that included greening of the class rooms, helping the gardeners, displaying banners and posters, planting trees, shutting off air conditioners for an hour each day of the week, organizing cleaning drives and more.

On this occasion, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI, Mr. Shashi Bhushan Shukla, IRS, Secretary, FDDI and Mr. Deepak Kumar, IRS, Executive Director, FDDI were present.

Citing about the relevance & requirement of the 'Green Week' campaign, Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI said, “The 'Green Week' campaign organized by FDDI is about recycling, reusing and reducing waste and other ways to advocate for the environment and save our planet 'Earth' from global warming.”

The global warming of the earth due to excessive emission of carbon dioxide is adversely affecting the ecosystem causing acute stress on mammals, fish, birds, trees and plant life. This also affects the life patterns as the rise in temperature that causes shift in wind and rainfall patterns alongwith changes in soil and water chemistry and pose a grave threat to our environment. Hence, there is the need of the three R's i.e. reuse, reduce and recycle.

“Students are in the best position to impact the future of our environment by developing green behaviours that become lifelong habits,” added Mr. Lakhara.

The initiative also set an example for other sections of the society, to reduce its effect on climate change.

On this occasion, saplings were planted by the Managing Director, the Secretary, the Executive Director, FDDI. They also appreciated the commitment of FDDI's staff and students for their concern towards the environment.

The appreciation received for the 'Green Week' campaign gave a big moral boost to the staff and students, to keep up their hard work and commendable performance.
