Policy paper on enhancing growth of textile sector

The Chinese government has issued guidance on promoting the growth of the textile industry, with the aim to enhance international competitiveness, by taking advantages of talent, technology, market and information.

The guidance for the East China reveals that the region should lead the overall textile industry by speeding up the pace of industrial upgrading. The region should promote the building of industries in central urban cities, promote transformation and upgrading of industrial clusters, and develop high-end textile and garment manufacturing.

The guidance for Central China points out that the region should focus on development of cotton, linen textile, knitting, garments, home textile, and industrial textile processing and manufacturing, gradually establish and perfect manufacturing system of the textile industry.

The guidance for West China expresses that the region should develop cotton, silk, clothing, and other special industries, while Northeast China should speed up development of chemical fiber, linen, clothing and other predominant industries.

The Ministry also says that it would actively encourage and guide financial institutions of banking sector to provide necessary financial support to qualified up-gradation projects of the textile industry, broaden the scope of mortgage guaranty and continue to improve and perfect financial services.
