Man-made fiber output significantly up in June

Japanese production of chemical fibres has increased significantly in the month of June, according to the Japan Chemical Fibers Association.

Output of man-made fibres rose by 20.9 percent, when compared with the same month of 2009 to 84,450 tons in June 2010. This was also the straight seventh consecutive month of rise in production.

On the other hand, in the first six months of 2010, production of chemical fibres rose to 485,947 tons, also up 23.2 percent, year-on-year.

Production of nylon filament touched 7,203 tons, up 46.4 percent, that of polyester filament rose to 16,281 tons, up 30.9 percent and that of acrylic staple fiber grew to 12,297 tons, up 16.8 percent in June 2010, when compared with June 2009.

Meanwhile, polyester staple fiber production declined by 2.3 percent to 12,811 tons and in the process fell for the second straight month.
