Jan '11
Alexium is awaiting the delivery of its third generation production line for the Greer, SC facility. The production unit, which is anticipated to be fully commissioned by mid-February, will more than triple Alexium's current production capacity.

The unit will be used to treat textiles, ballistic fibers, leather, filter media and other materials on a continuous processing line, while offering the ability to demonstrate and optimise various treatments for customers, and build turn-key systems for licensees operating in full-scale production environments.

Alexium is also looking to expand its laboratory area and workforce to meet requests of industry.

Alexium International Group Limited is an Australian company operated by a team of over a dozen experienced business professionals, engineers, scientists and technical consultants. Alexium has a presence in Europe and is using its U.S. plant in South Carolina as the operating headquarters.

It holds proprietary patent applications for a process developed initially by the US Department of Defense, which allows for the surface modification and attachment of nano particles or multiple chemical functional groups to surfaces or substrates to provide functions such as water proofing, oil proofing, anti microbial, non-stick and UV protection. Applications under development include but are not limited to textiles, paints, packaging, glass and building materials.
